HCI, 3D Graphics & Visualization Researcher

The Commonwealth Center for Advanced Manufacturing (CCAM) is seeking a HCI, 3D Graphics & Visualization Researcher to work on collaborative teams with industry technical leaders, academic experts, and world-class researchers to develop and implement solutions for real-world challenges in advanced manufacturing.

HCI, 3D Graphics & Visualization Researcher

  • Solid understanding of 3D geometry principles
  • In-depth understanding of computational geometry concepts, such as CSG, Brep, perspective projection, quaternion mathematics, PMF, intersection and collision detection techniques, meshing techniques, etc.
  • Hands-on experience with one or more of the following 3D modeling and animation engines: Unreal Engine, unity3D, Blender, etc.
  • General programming skills: object oriented programming, data structures and algorithms, NLP, graph parsing and search techniques, etc.
  • Experience in VR, AR, or physics simulation
  • Shader coding and GPU programming experience
  • Experience working with haptic devices and force feedback
  • Hands-on experience with a CAD kernel (including open source kernels such as Open Cascade)

In this role you will help discover technology breakthroughs and developments that can influence global manufacturing. Researchers perform in a dynamic, collaborative environment with cross-functional teams, and work with research managers and customers to develop, define, and execute research programs. Researchers are expected to provide training to technicians, interns, and visiting researchers from industrial and academic partners.

SECURITY CLEARANCE: Qualified candidates must be able to obtain a U.S. security clearance within 24 months of employment.
